Szymanowski plays Szymanowski
It would be good to collect together all recordings of composers playing their own music.
I notice in Szymanowski's performance of these two Mazurkas that while there is a sense of great freedom, there is also a very strict underlying pulse - which is an appropriate quality for a dance to have, wouldn't you say?

I see - it is an important film.
The poster of that video has done a good job with the sound (although a little smidgin of extra reverb has appeared).
I think I can hear that he is playing well but not quite getting on top of all the notes?
However the main thing is the interpretation (which I'm glad to know about for Shostakovitch, who I find quite obscure to grasp sometimes, though I'm getting the hang of it).
There are recordings of Shostakovitsh and Prokofiev and people rather ignore the way they play. Why? It's the composer! They can't be wrong!!
